Meta Business Verification

Getting your business verified with Meta is an important step for using WhatsApp Business. This guide will walk you through the entire process in simple, easy-to-follow steps.

What You'll Need Before Starting​

Before you begin, make sure you have:

  • Access to your Meta Business Manager account
  • Your business registration documents
  • Your business tax ID or registration number
  • A utility bill, bank statement, or business license showing your address
  • Access to your business email or phone number for verification

Step-by-Step Verification Process​

Step 1: Access Your Business Settings​

  • Visit Business Settings
  • Select the business account linked to your WhatsApp number from the dropdown menu

Step 2: Navigate to Security Centre​

  • Scroll down the left sidebar and click on "Security Centre"

Step 3: Start the Verification Process​

  • Click the "Start Verification" button
  • Click "Get Started" on the next screen

Step 4: Select Your Business Location​

  • Choose the country where your business is legally registered
  • Click Next
  • Example: If your business is registered in India, select India from the list

Step 5: Choose Your Business Type​

  • Select your business category from the options provided:
    • Private Company
    • Public Company
    • Sole Proprietorship
    • Partnership
    • Other business types
  • Click Next to continue

Step 6: Enter Your Business Details​

This is the most important part of the process. You'll need to provide accurate information that matches your official business documents.

Required Information:

  • Business Tax ID - Your official tax registration number
  • Business Name - Exactly as it appears on legal documents
  • Business Address - Your registered business address
  • Phone Number - Your business contact number
  • Website Link - Your business website (if applicable)

Important: Meta will cross-check this information with official records. Make sure everything matches your documents exactly, including spelling and formatting.

Documents You'll Need​

When submitting your business details for verification, you only need to provide one document from the accepted options listed below

For Business Name Verification (Choose Any One):​

  • Certificate of Incorporation - Your company registration certificate
  • Business License - Government-issued operating permit
  • Tax Registration Certificate - Your VAT or tax registration document

For Business Address & Phone Verification (Choose Any One):​

  • Utility Bill - Gas, water, or electricity bill (must show business name)
  • Bank Statement - Recent statement from your business bank account
  • Business License - Can be used for both name and address verification

Once you've filled in all details, click Next

Step 7: Choose Your Verification Method​

Select how you'd like Meta to verify your contact information:

  • Email - Receive a verification code via email
  • Phone Call - Get an automated call with a verification code
  • Text Message - Receive an SMS with a verification code
  • WhatsApp Message - Get the code through WhatsApp
  • Domain Verification - Verify ownership of your website domain

Step 8: Upload Your Verification Documents​

Choose Your Document Type​

Select one of the following document types to upload:

For All Businesses:

  • Business Bank Statement
  • Business Registration or License Document
  • Business Tax Document
  • Certificate/Articles of Incorporation

For Indian Businesses Only:

  • UDYAM Registration Certificate (MSME)
  • Goods and Services Tax (GST) Registration Certificate

Document Requirements​

Make sure your document:

  • ✅ Shows your legal business name exactly as you entered it
  • ✅ Is current and not expired
  • ✅ Is clear and readable (scan or high-quality photo)
  • ✅ Shows your business address (if using for address verification)

Note: A utility bill can only be used to verify your business address and phone number, not your business name (unless the business name appears on the bill).

After uploading, click Next

Step 9: Complete Contact Verification​

If you selected Domain Verification, you'll need to:

  • Ensure your website is live and accessible
  • Make sure your website displays your business's legal name
  • Click Verify to complete this step

If you chose email, phone, or SMS verification, simply enter the code you received.

Step 10: Wait for Review​

After submitting everything, you'll see a "Verification In Review" status.

What Happens Next?​

  • Meta will review your submitted information and documents
  • The review process typically takes 2 working days
  • You'll receive a notification once the review is complete

Verification Complete!​

Once approved, your status will change to "Verified" with a green checkmark. Congratulations! Your business is now verified and you can use all WhatsApp Business features.

If your verification is rejected:

  • Double-check that all information matches your documents exactly
  • Ensure your documents are clear and not expired
  • Verify that your business name is spelled correctly
  • Make sure your website displays your business name prominently
